The exhibition “Tribute to Konstantīns Pēkšēns”. The exhibition showcases the traditions, symbols and historical relics of the student corporation “Selonia”.

Paying homage to the architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns on his 163rd anniversary, the museum “Riga Art Nouveau Centre” invites on 8 March at 14.00 to participate in the memorial event at the cemetery “Rīgas Meža kapi” at the final resting place of the distinguished Latvian architect. Later on this day, at 17.00 at the museum “Riga Art Nouveau Centre” there will take place opening of the exhibition “Tribute to Konstantīns Pēkšēns” prepared by the student corporation “Selonia”, as well as the exhibition “Lights” of glass and design works by Ramona Pēkšēna and Margarita Budze.

While laying down flowers and lighting candles during the memorial event at the cemetery “Rīgas Meža kapi” we will dedicate sincere words to the architect, recalling his contribution to the development of the Art Noveau and public life.

Konstantīns Pēkšēns (8 March 1859, Mazsalaca Municipality – 23 June 1928, Bad Kissingen, Germany) is one of the founders of the corporation “Selonia” and its first senior. The exhibition “Tribute to Konstantīns Pēkšēns” prepared by “Selonia” acquaints with the contributions of the corporation in the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, the War of Liberation, organising public life of Latvians. The exhibition tells about the traditions of the corporation, shows its symbolism and historical relics, which are proudly passed from generation to generation.

The exhibitions at the museum are open from 8 March to 24 April 2022 from 10.00 to 18.00 daily, except Mondays.
