Augusts Malvess

Malvess, Augusts (2 September 1878, Vecgulbene–9 May 1951, Riga) – an architect and an expert on building materials and building structures. In 1906, he graduated from RPI. After graduation he worked in Konstantīns Pēkšēns’ architectural office, but in 1909 he set up his own architectural practice. From 1919 to 1950, he was a lecturer at Latvian University, in 1939 he became an extraordinary professor, and in 1944 – a professor. Between 1928 and 1930 he was a dean of the Faculty of Architecture. Augusts Malvess was the author of about 20 multi-storey masonry residential buildings constructed in Riga in the 1900s. He also published several articles, including the publication "Technical Dictionary of Building Substances, Building Works and Structures" (1931).
