Art Nouveau objects in Riga

Alberta iela 6 (1904.)

Architect: Mihails Eizenšteins

Apartment House of Active State Councillor Andrey Lebedinsky. The house designed in the manner of Eclectically Decorative Art Nouveau with the floor plan identical to that at Alberta iela 8. Three avant-corps create a symmetrical façade composition accentuated with red brick. Eisenstein’s elevation drawing slightly differs from the actual façade. The house is surmounted by a monumental attic and three mascarons above the central entrance gate. They may have a symbolic meaning: the head of Mercury sits in the middle flanked by a young girl on the right and an older woman on the left. The building also has an ornate staircase.
