Rūdolfs Fīlips Donbergs

April 10, 1864. Riga – August 17, 1918. Kassel, Germany

Rudolpf Philipp Dohnberg – an architect. After graduating from RPI in 1893, he worked in the offices of architects Professor Gustav Hilbig and Wilhelm Bockslaff, but in 1894 he established his own architectural practice. He also worked as an appraiser for several insurance companies. More than 80 multi-storey masonry residential and public buildings were built in Riga to his designs. While in the late 19th century he mostly designed in the manner of Eclecticism, after the turn of the century, Dohnberg’s buildings began to reflect all stylistic varieties of Riga’ Art Nouveau.
